New Post...Testing Out Format [Blog]
Hey all!
This is my first memorandum & missive since a lot of you joined up. I still am trying to figure out format for these, so I'll keep trying until something sticks. The major function will be showing an update to the Goblin Archives blog, but I'll try and pepper in a few other interesting bits and pieces.
UPDATE: Appendix - Item Tags for Liminal Horror - Goblin Archives (blot.im)]
I've been thinking on this one for a while (ever since I planned on doing the appendix series of modular rules/options/supplements/procedures). It's an easy way to add some diversity in item effects without getting too overboard in complexity.
What I'm working on:
- We just got the art back from Zach Hazard for The Bureau and it slaps. I cannot wait to share it. The Bureau is a Liminal Horror module co-written with Josh Domanski. Elevator pitch is "It's Control meets Gradient Descent."
- I just finished laying out a friend's guide to exercise zine Paradoxa.
- It's about time to dive back in to finish laying out The Mall (also I got some of Trevor's art back for it and his movie poster style art for the piece really aligns with the theme/presentation).
- I made a Third Party License for people making adventures for Liminal Horror. I just need to make the logo they can add then I'll post it, so be on the lookout for a small missive soon.
- My wife is a vegan baker and is doing a popup in PDX, so I'm going to be making them some posters/a menu.
What I'm playing/running this week:
- On my Tuesday game nights I will continue playing an elf twin in Hole in the Oak using OSE. I'm having a lot of fun playing my Patrick Swayze inspired elf (silly tweet thread about it)
- During my bi-weekly Wednesday group there was a request to run for them some OSE. The group is composed of 5e players who I run games they've never tried before (Mothership - Gradient Descent, The Drain, Meatgrinder; Liminal Horror: The Mall). My friend/trainer Tyler talked about wanting to have the group play OSE and get the experience of squishy adventurers on the search for treasure (and an excuse to get out some old minis). He also runs a 5e game for the same group sans me (making the contrast between both tables really interesting). I'll be running The Incandescent Grottos with hopes to lead it into Halls of the Blood King.
- On Mother's Day my Sunday group will head back into The Mall to continue their quest get out before they are subsumed by a monster that can look like anyone.
What I'm listening to:
- I started the audio drama podcast Limetown, and it's really giving me a lot of inspiration for the Liminal Horror pamphlet series that's been bouncing around in my head. A future blog entry is going to be a character gen modification that allows frames the group as podcasters/documentary crew stumbling into the paranatural.
- As far as music goes, I've been listening to the:
"U Say (feat Tyler, the Creator & Jay Prince)" from Diaspora by GoldLink
"I'm Scum" from Joy as an Act of Resistance by IDLES
"Fiend for Corpses" from It's Time...To Rise from the Grave by Undeath
"Big Energy" from 777 by Latto
"Raingurl" from EP2 by Yaeji
What I'm watching:
- Somehow, despite it aligning to the types of stories I enjoy and games I make, I've never seen Twin Peaks. So I decided to rectify that situation and it's on the other screen right now.
- My wife and I are watching Barry. I'm really enjoying it, from the intertwining of comedy with some dark/heavy themes. It gets you just the right amount of stressed to keep you hooked without burning you out.
That's all for now. Like I said, I'll be experimenting with format. The top of the list will always be whatever updates to projects or blog, but sometimes it's cool to show some of the different things that people are doing in tangential spaces (music, film, etc).
