Deluxe Edition Preview #5: The Appendices
Where all of our fun tools, supplements, and extra doodads are kept.
Welcome back to part 5 of our lead up to the Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition newsletter series!
As we gear up for the April 15th launch on Backerkit we will be exploring what is contained within the book!
In this series we’re looking at each Chapter/Section in the book so you can get a good idea of everything we have in store for you.
For this entry we will be diving into the final part of the book, Chapter 5: Appendices (tools and supplements for your games). This ending section includes all the extra tools, toys, and things to help supplement and enrich play. Much of the extra content written for the book was put back here to expand the tables and entries in the main part of the text.
FOLLOW ON BACKERKIT TO BE NOTIFIED OF OUR APRIL 15TH LAUNCH!
The previous newsletter entries focused on:
Chapter 1: Investigators Guide (the core rules and character creation section of the book)
Chapter 2: Facilitator’s Guide (essays on how to run and create horror at the table)
As always, remember that things are still subject to change as we’re in the editing and layout process. Even so, this should give a good look at what you’re going to get with Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition.
Chapter 5: The Appendices
The appendices are a collection of modular rules, supplements, and additional content compiled to provide a greater range of options to aid in getting Liminal Horror to the table. These are loosely broken down into optional mechanics, expanded resources, and reference aides.
Most of the Appendices fall into three categories:
Optional Mechanics: Modular systems that can be added to your game to reinforce different genres or add greater mechanical complexity to the base game.
Expanded Resources: Additional material Facilitators can use when prepping and running their games.
Reference Aides: Quick references to help support players and facilitators when using Liminal Horror.
OPTIONAL MECHANICS
CONDITIONS: Physical and mental consequences that may impact an Investigator.
ITEM TAGS: Added complexity to items.
FUNNEL RULES: An alternative play format where players control multiple simplified characters, running them through a lethal gauntlet.
SURVIVAL HORROR: Additional mechanics that reinforce the survival horror genre.
TACTICAL COMBAT: Additional mechanics for violent encounters that allow for greater complexity.
EXPANDED RESOURCES
ARCHETYPES: A list of additional starting Archetypes for Investigators that expand on those presented in Creating an Investigator.
INVESTIGATION TOOLS: Resources for Investigators, including pre-made vehicles and starter kits that the party can take before heading out on an adventure. Expands those presented in Creating The Party.

SCENARIO THREADS: A list of adventure seeds and weird things that are going on in the world. These can be used to seed potential investigations or inspire Facilitators.
LOCATION GENERATOR: A procedure for creating and stocking locations.
SPARK TABLES: A collection of random table generators, some include: horrors and odd NPCs)
GENERIC LOCATIONS: This may be my favorite addition to the entire book. A series of keyed maps that present normal locations for Facilitators to infuse the weird and strange for their tables.
Conversion Guides: A list of system specific conversion notes for playing adventures in Liminal Horror. A draft of these can be found on the LiminalHorrorRPG.com website.
