Art Director and Major Website Updates
Some exciting news as we ramp up Deluxe Edition Development
As summer comes to a close, we gear up for fall. It is one of my favorite times of year (both for the season, and everything that comes along with it). It also is one of the most hectic times for my day job, but there’s something special about it regardless.
Official Art Director
Josh and I are excited to officially have Zach Hazard Vaupen join our team as Art Director. He had been working in that capacity for the upcoming Deluxe Edition, but we’ve found that it is something we want to continue going forward. It also makes sense since Zach was the first person I collaborated with on Liminal Horror (and his vision for the cover set the art tone going forward from the very beginning).
I’m excited to have Zach on board in an official creative capacity and what it means for all things Liminal Horror going forward.
To celebrate, here’s some section break art from the Deluxe Edition.
We recently had a team meeting in which we looked at the Liminal Horror roadmap and some of the things we have planned coming with and post the Deluxe Edition is truly something special.
When is the Deluxe Edition
As mentioned above, we had a team meeting to look at what we have done, what we have left, and when is the best time to launch the Deluxe Edition. Our main goal is to deliver a work that is as close to complete as possible.
Looking at the calendar and where we have left, our current plan is to launch the backerkit for March 2025. That gets us out of the holiday window, have fully delivered on Hungry Hollow, launch post ZiMo busyness, and will allow us to hit the final targets in development to crowdfund a complete text.
Twisted Classics Jam
We have some exciting things planned in regards to our finishing (and about to launch) game jams.
There is a week left in the Twisted Classics Jam! There have been some amazing entries so far (we will do an overview of them when it completes). After that, the Liminal Horror dev team will choose a winner!
Liminal Horror: Field Guide to the Americas Jam
JOIN THE LIMINAL HORROR Community THIS FALL FOR: Field Guide to the Americas Jam
Jam Prompt: Create monsters, Resonant Artifacts, NPCs, Factions, single locations + thread/hook, maps, art, adventures (one to eight pages), or longer-form adventures to catalogue the weird, strange, and horrifying across North and South America.
Blurb: The official Liminal Horror releases have focused on The Haunted Pacific Northwest, but as we all know, the weird things that go bump in the night are not bound to a single region. The goal of this upcoming jam is to widen the scope, and bring in different horrors, weird occurrences, legends from all over. What’s better than a community setting guide spanning the Americas (open to North and South America).
Creators will not only have the option of submitting to the jam, but also entering to be included in a singular collection. A field guide of sorts. Josh Domanski and Goblin Archives will assemble to work, including some framing resources to tie it together. The digital version will be released for PWYW with current plans for a print on demand book through LuLu. If there are enough entries (or buzz) there may be subsequent jams/Field Guide collections.
THE WHAT AND THE HOW... Entries will be plotted on a massive map of The Americas, creating a sort of grand campaign of threads in which Investigators can travel the continent to battle with the weird and unknown things.
Support: The dev team will be creating affinity templates to help support people in creating a wide range of entry types!
When: We aim to launch in October and run until the Deluxe Edition campaign ends (Spring 2025).
So start planning!
Website Updates
As we move forward, the team felt it was important to create a cohesive landing page for all of our work. Purchasing a new domain, we relaunched the github website as:
This site still hosts the core rules for free (and searchable). But we wanted to make sure it was a space that made navigating all the different things as easy as possible.
It includes:
Home: A landing page with overview of what Liminal Horror is, and links to the different modules. https://liminalhorrorrpg.com/
Core Rules - fully searchable rules to aid in reference while playing (or creating). These are a digital version of the rules presented in Liminal Horror Investigators. https://liminalhorrorrpg.com/Core%20Rules/
Official Modules: A quick reference to all of the official releases. https://liminalhorrorrpg.com/Official%20Modules/

VHS Updates
So I dived head first into VHS collecting, and not only has it been a blast, but it also has made me watch a lot more frequently. It’s easy to throw on a tape while ttrpg writing. I’ve been showcasing what I’m watching on my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goblinarchivespdx/
